HARVESTTHE KINGDOM OF GOD An Introduction
"Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord until He comes and showers righteousness upon you." (Hosea 10:12) There was an unmistakable hope that filled the air like a sweet fragrance. The people, filled with joy and bursting with excitement, gathered by the roadway to honor the man, whom, they believed, had come to deliver them from the hands of a cruel and oppressive Roman government. The people took off their cloaks, and having gathered branches from the nearby trees, began to pave the way, and pay homage, to their coming King!
As they anxiously awaited His arrival promises of past kings, who had saved them from despot rulers, may have stirred in their memory as the Scriptures began to leap with renewed vigor in their minds "They hurried and took their cloaks and spread them under him on the bare steps. Then they blew the trumpet and shouted, "Jehu is king!" (2 Kings 9:13). The crowd began to shout as their king came into view, riding a humble donkey He publicly proclaimed that He was the chosen Son of David: "See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey" (Zechariah 9:9). Following after Him, the people began praising God, and rejoiced saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the h
