Believers from the churches and ministries of the greater Fredericksburg area are invited to participate in a 10-day, around-the-clock, prayer and fasting encounter with the Lord in the heart of Fredericksburg city. Our families, our faith, and our freedom are all in crisis, and the Lord is stirring the hearts of His children, prompting them to return to Him with all their hearts.

"...'Are you still sleeping and resting?
Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
Rise, let us go! Here comes my betrayer!'"
(Matthew 26:45-46)

Many of us are aware that our nation is at a critical crossroads, resulting from heart failure. We believers are called to " ... be holy because [He] is holy", yet this country's moral and spiritual landscape paints an entirely different picture. We can not criticize the splinter in the eyes of an unbelieving world, while we have a plank in our own. Our complacency and apathy distorts our view, causing unnecessary irritation within and between the Church.

In his famous Farewell Address, George Washington eloquently stated that, in order for this great nation to continue to prosper, we must never forget that
" religion and morality are indispensable supports."

We are privileged to live in an area where this esteemed founding father lived. To house the Tent of Meeting, the Lord has even provided the very spot where our first President's mother, Mary Ball Washington, would go to pray and to weep over her son as he fought for and led this nation. We can not ignore this opportunity to join together and pray that her tears, sown in this historic field, will birth a harvest of righteousness.

"Those who sow in tears
will reap with songs of joy."
(Psalm 126:5)

FIRE in the City is not an event. This is a movement of the Lord, uniting His children together in the bonds of peace and love. He is drawing His children out from behind the walls of the Church to encourage and equip us, knitting our hearts together with His
... and with one another's.

The world wants us to keep our faith in a box, but our founding fathers knew that the survival of this Christian nation depended upon believers who were firmly rooted and grounded in truth. Now, as then, believers are to take action and get involved in the public arena. We must take a stand, but to stand firm, we must first fall on our knees, seeking the Lord in humble prayer, and repenting for our failure to fully depend on Him as we should.

On Thursday, May 1st, the National Day of Prayer, we will ignite 10 days of 24-hour, around-the-clock, prayer and worship, beginning at 2PM in the Tent of Meeting. Join us as we offer a sacrifice of praise to the Lord by laying down our plans and surrendering to the His purposes.
