40 Days of Prayer and Fasting
for the Spiritual Renewal of America

Fasting, according to Scripture, has been a time of preparation for God's people to step out in faith, in an act of humble obedience, to God's call on their life.  It is a time of consecration to prepare one's heart to submit to the will of God and to fix their eyes on the source of their hope, therefore, removing the fear of man and replacing it with the fear of God.

In times of fasting God's servants were emboldened to stand before kings (Esther), to stand against the unrighteous law of the land (Daniel), to seek God's help and prepare for battle (Jehoshaphat), and to boldly confess the sin of the nation and exalt the name of the Lord (Nehemiah 9).

We are suffering a moral and spiritual crisis in our nation that is the result of God's children falling prey to the seduction of this temporal world and not keeping the Lord as their utmost priority (Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Romans 12:1-2).  We have neglected the reading of the Word of God, prayer, obedience, faithfulness and repentance and have become complacent in a world that is not our home.
